This week I found an article on thelantern.com by a man named Matt Hoffman. He interviews Ohio State professor Brad Bushman, who teaches communication and psychology class. Professor Brad Bushman says and I quote “Oh, you've never murdered? Good for you. I’m so proud.” Brad will say this when someone disagrees with him on his opinion of whether or not video games make you want to use violence. Brad says video games make people use violence. Bushman has studied video games and aggression for 25+ years. In early February of 2014 he gave a lecture name “Blood, Gore and Video Games: Effects of Violent Content on Players.”
“We know for sure there is a causal link between violent video games and aggression,” Bushman said during the lecture. Compared to violence portrayed in TV and movies, Bushman said video games cause more aggressive thoughts and behavior.“Watching a television program is passive, while video game playing is active,” he said. “Video games require the player to identify and interact with a violent character instead of just observing them, and results have shown this causes a greater effect.”“Scientific data trumps opinion every time,” Bushman said. “I don’t care what you believe personally about the effects of violent media … Scientists have done hundreds of studies about it. I don’t need to take your word for it, I can look at the research evidence.”
I respect Bushman’s opinion, but the other articles I have read usually said there maybe a connection but scientist aren't sure and Bushman just straight up says all scientist say video games cause violence and I believe that's false. I’m positive there are some scientist that disagree with bushman.
